A Fable - By Ms. Bean (7)

Once upon a time in a swamp in Africa, there was an alligator and a bird. They were best friends since they were born. Two days later, Alligator had a horrible toothache and there were no doctors available. Birds father is a doctor so bird crawled inside alligators mouth and cleaned his mouth. Alligator fells better and bird feels better too. Happily ever after.
Lesson: A little person can make a big difference.

Surprise!

I just found this delightful surprise in my purse. Ms. Bean was watching my remedial dance practice leading to the upcoming recital. I guess she thought that I needed a little "pick-me-up" in my "lunchbox". So completely in love at the moment .............

Her Native American Name

I wish this could be scanned in its entirety, but sometimes scrap paper isn't as forgiving as one would like.

According to Ms. Bean, the assignment was to give yourself a Native American name and draw a picture to describe it. Ms. Bean responded with true 7-year old enthusiasm ..........

Introducing ......... (drum roll) ..........................

We really have to get cranking on those Guitar Lessons!

What is Chitzenship

I just completed a 2-week leadership course in Landsdown. During that period, we spend a LOT if time discussing and debating the meaning of Citizenship. Apparently, I only needed to look in Ms. Beans backpack for the right answer ..........

If I could make the rules

Once in a while, you have a moment when the kids do something so wonderful and so unexpected, you actually need to sit down and take it in. I just had one of those moments. Ms. Bean brought home a huge stack of work that she did during the 1st quarter (2nd Grade). I was half looking at the paperwork, while doing 50 other things and holding 6 conversations, when a slip of paper caught my eye. The handwriting was definitely my daughters, the sentiment beautiful:

"If I could make the rules, I would open a grocery store just for the poor and the price would be very low or no price at all. I would get rid of cigarettes so nobody would hurt their throat."

Little Bee's Dream

Scene - while laying in bed figuring out today's logistics, Little Bee arrives at the door, sleep still in her eyes:

Little Bee: "Mommy. I had a strange dream."
Me: "Really? What was it about"
Little Bee: "Alex (my mothers dog) went to a school that wasn't very hard, and all they did all day was have fire drills".

I LOVE the mind of a Kindergartner!

The BEST birthday card EVER!

Last Sunday, I turned 43.

Since we are in the process of gutting the kitchen, Tom and I decided that there would be no presents this year, and the girls are over scheduled so we have little time on weekends for a "party". We enjoyed a couple of lovely quiet meals with Susie and Papa, and I LOVED being with the people I love.

However, the girls weren't going to let the day go by without a little fanfare! Ms. Bean washed by car from top to bottom and vacuumed for hours with Papa on Saturday (thanks DAD!). And little Bee, demanded that I produce a box of pens, a sheet of paper, and get OUT OF HER WAY!

20 minutes later, she appeared with this masterpiece, and the following explanation:

The front contains the first and last letter of our names. The Heart indicates who is having the birthday, and the "O" symbalized who made the card.

And here is the inside. A cake topped with sparkelers (THANKS ERICA!) and the ROYGBIV and a sunflower for Mommy. I simply couldnt be more proud or delighted.
