Note Home - Baby Bee

"She did beautiful drawings with peices of chalk. She also likes to treasure the chalk and carry them in a bucket. I think she also tells them stories."

And we thought she had no friends!

Congratulations Boys!

Congratulations Bruce and Ovie! Section 425 always knew how good you are, now the World is taking notice!

Happy 5th Birthday Ms. Bean

You are still sleeping, and I am reflecting on how remarkable you are.

In 5 years you have become a charming and delightful person, and I could not be more proud of you. Your interest in people/culture goes well beyond your years. Most people don't achieve in a lifetime the ability to feel for and connect with others that you have now. I truly believe that one day you will change the world with your sensitivity and kindness. You have certainly changed ours.

XOXO Mom

Happy Dump Day!

It is hard to believe that this is the 5th anniversary of "dump day". I think that we should all run out and have a reenactment, to assure that we never forget such an amazing experience. This can be easily accomplished, with very little planning:
1) Acquire the only SUV in Virginia
2) Find a driver with plenty of time on her hands, preferably one on her first day of maternity leave with an induction scheduled in 48 hours.
3) Try and get the drivers father to actually drive the vehicle, and put the pregnant woman in the front seat.
4) Put a variety of items into the car, to include aluminum, glass, metal, and cardboard. This will ensure that you have the ultimate experience.
5) Confirm directions with your neighbor, and let him assist you with placing the items into the back of the SUV.
6) Arrive at the dump
7) Place glass into recyclable containers, and follow arrows to the indoor disposal facility
8) Make sure that this is ONLY DONE in the summer when the garbage from the indoor facility has adequate heat exposure.
9) Pull into the indoor disposal facility, and TAKE IT ALL IN!

Bean and Bee are going to the moon!

My friend Lisa, who I love and don't see enough of, sent me this link. I am thrilled. NASA is inviting people of all ages to join the lunar exploration journey by sending their names to the moon aboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft, which is scheduled for launch in late 2008. At the Send Your Name to the Moon website, participants can submit their information, print a certificate and have their name entered into a database. The database will be placed on a microchip that will be integrated onto the spacecraft. The deadline for submitting names is June 27, 2008, so get on board fast!

I will have to ask my friend Don if this is the ultimate space exploration outcome he envisioned all those years that he worked for NASA procurement. A PDF for Bean and Bee!

Mommy = "Cousin Itt".

Tom and I have made a lot of mistakes during the course of our marriage (the purchases of MCI and Global Crossing come to mind), but one of the smarter things that we did was move to our current neighborhood where we can enjoy the company of pleasant and enlightened people. More importantly, our kids are able to enjoy the company of our pleasant and enlightened neighbors, pleasant and enlightened children. It is just a big love love fest in OTV!
So, I was thrilled and delighted when Ms. Bean (5 on Friday) informed me that she would be growing her hair and donating it to Locks of Love. She got the idea from Blair, a pleasant and enlightened 12 year old who Ms. Bean worships. I was delighted that she wanted to do such a generous and selfless thing, and think it is truly a wonderful idea. I was a little less euphoric when she recommended that I participate with her! However, I am now growing my hair 12 inches, because some day I hope to be as enlightened as my daughter.
Maybe next time Blair can talk her into consuming 12 pints of ice cream? That I would certainly sign up for!

Ms. Bean - Note Home:

4 June 2008:

"Sarah wore a really pretty dress to school today along with a pretty necklace she modeled for the class. I see a future star on your hands."

Considering that her teachers NEVER send home notes of any kind, she must have made quite an impression. :)
